Industrial robots are automated, flexible components used for a wide range of applications within manufacturing systems. Part of the Fundamental Manufacturing Processes Video Series, this program covers the array of robot configurations and features segments on robot anatomy and types, robotic programming, and sensors. The robot anatomy and types segment covers axes of motion, robot work envelop, major robot classifications, including rectangular arm robots, SCARA robots, articulated/jointed arm robots, and robot end effectors and gripping devices. These end effectors include welding guns, paint nozzles, and machining tools. The robotic programming segment covers both on-line and off-line robotic programming. The sensors segment covers the common contact and non-contact types of sensors used to assist industrial robots.
