Laser Surface Modification

Laser surface modification is a broad field with multiple choices in both lasers and processes available. Although it is relatively unknown, compared to laser cutting and welding, it is the most diverse and sophisticated area of laser materials processing. This communication considers the use of CO2, Nd:YAG and HPDL for use in the processes: heat treating, glazing/remelting, cladding, and alloying.
