Back to Study on Ultrasonic Vibration Milling Using Small-Diameter Ball...
Tech Paper #MR03-179 In this study, to improve cutting performance of milling using a small-diameter ball-nosed end mill, the authors studied cutting performance when ultrasonic vibration was applied in the axial direction of the tool. As a result, it is clarified that the following benefits are obtained, such as the prevention of tilt of the small-diameter end mill, the improvement of shape accuracy and surface integrity of products, and the improvement of tool life, by the ultrasonic end milling in which the end mill is axially vibrated with ultrasonic frequency. Authors: Mashiko Jin (Nippon Institute of Technology, Saitama, Japan), Hidenari Kanai (Nippon Institute of Technology, Saitama, Japan), Masao Murakawa (Nippon Institute of Technology, Saitama, Japan), Shin-Jiro Yamada (INCS, Inc., Tokyo, Japan).
