Back to LATHE FIXTURES AND WORK HOLDING PROBLEMS ON LATHE WORK
Lathe fixtures, like all fixtures, must hold the part securely, locate the part from critical surfaces, avoid distorting the part, support frail sections, and be designed so that loading and unloading time is kept to a minimum. In addition to these basic requirements, lathe fixtures must compensate for out-of-balance conditions of the fixture itself and the workpiece and for centrifugal forces. This paper describes and illustrates how these requirements can be met and discusses lathe fixture design in general. (Formerly SP63-67)
