Large Closed-Die Forging on the Hydraulic Press

Today's technology permits the production of closed-die forging in a host of materials up to 6,000 square inches of plan view area and weighing up to 57,000 lbs. To understand this achievement, a description is given of the available equipment, the process variables, type of parts being produced, and a typical processing cycle of a large closed-die forging.
