This paper illustrates the application of statistical technique in welding technology. Four examples are described: effects of welding parameters on joint strength in welding rail steel bars using factorial experiments, a heat input prediction equation is established by means of experimental design technique, optimization of welding parameters in inertia welding by Response-Surface Methodology and topology of weld pool/crater configuration using a three-level five variable incomplete block statistical design.
