Precision Surface Grinding With Coated Abrasives

Two reciprocating bed surface grinders have been equipped with idler pulleys so that either coated abrasive belts or grinding wheels may be used for surface grinding. Precision grinding can be done rapidly with wide belts and large crossfeed steps if the machine has a sufficiently large motor. Grinding forces and power requirements are reported for both coated abrasives and bonded wheels.
