Description
Back to Heat Treatment of Tool Steels and Other Specialty Steels Made From Powdered Metals
Powder metallurgy techniques result in small, uniformly distributed carbides and microstructural constituents. This condition results in many benefits to the heat treater and material user. For example, minimized out of roundness and distortion for unground hobs and form relieved cutter results when PM high speed steels are used. Good grindability results particularly with the high vanadium high speed steel. Also included in the paper will be the heat treatment of hot isostatically pressed, precipitation hardening grades such as Rene 95 for aircraft applications.
