The quality connection occurs when an avenue of communication between the powder coating manufacturer and the powder coating applicator is established. A quality connection assures a minimum of lost time due to equipment problems and recoating. The connection begins with an understanding of powder coating characteristics and their relationship to the application system and the finished product. Particle size, cure cycle, melt rheology, impact, flexibility, color and gloss are all important characteristics in the formulation of a powder for an applicator. An understanding of what the powder manufacturer is supplying, and why, should be established.
