Knowledge-Based Expert Welding

The Adaptiweld (tm) system is one of the first arc welding systems to provide an expert welding system, incorporating knowledge of skilled welders in its information and control base. A three-dimensional (3-D) vision system gathers information on the characteristics of a seam to be welded. These characteristics are stored in the computer memory of the system controller and manipulated by the expert system to perform a complete welding function without direct human supervision.
