Description

Back to Rotational Molding

Rotational molding is a process for fabricating a rigid hollow part. A mold is charged with a thermoplastic powder. Rotating the mold about two perpendicular axes, while heating the mold to the thermoplastic powder's melting temperature, melts the powder and distributes it evenly around the mold surface. While still rotating, the mold is transferred to a cooling chamber, where the part is cooled at a specified rate to room temperature. The part is then removed and the mold recharged to start the cycle over.
