Diagnosing Potential Obstacles to the Introduction of Automation

This paper summarizes the most common obstacles found in implementing automation and describes a set of practices that ensure the successful introduction of automation into organizations. These findings summarize a set of studies about automation since 1979. The paper concludes with a framework for using the findings to increase the likelihood of a successful implementation.
