Description
Back to Toward a Generic Approach to Specifying AI Techniques for Manufacturing Applications
This paper presents studies to determine applicability of artificial intelligence in manufacturing applications and to specify the most useful AI techniques. Three criteria evaluate whether applications have the potential of successfully using AI technology. To specify the most suitable AI techniques, two manufacturing applications, which have successfully used AI, were characterized by experts in AI applications. The expert characterizations were then matched to the AI techniques used in their systems. Work is ongoing, with the eventual goal to generalize the results and provide a public domain expert system, which can be used to make these evaluations.
