Robots In Heavy Welding Applications

The road to full adaptive robot arc welding with multi-pass technology and coordinated motion on the production floor is discussed. The development of sensors, systems, software, and suppliers provided the accomplishment of this objective. The adaptive robot cell allows flexibility and overall system control resulting in quality improvements greater than expected. Adaptive welding compensates for poor fit up and tolerance stack up in heavy fabrication.
