Statistical Process Control: Just Another Quality Tool?

The Japanese used statistical methods in industry to improve quality and to increase productivity. Unfortunately, many U.S. industries have vague knowledge of statistical process control concepts and doubt its capability for achieving higher and better production. This paper discusses a technique to assist the average industrial employee to better understand the function of statistical process control. With the data gained through monitoring the process, it is one of the best tools to use in measuring the capability of a process.
