Manufacturing Cost Estimating For Gages

This paper discusses the cost estimating of gages ranging from hand gages to coordinate measuring machines. The focus of gaging is changing from the product to the process. Acceptance of products is no longer the primary objective. Instead, supporting continuous improvement of the process appears to be of prime interest for gaging in the future. The complexity of cost estimating of gaging, with the emphasis on the process, is discussed and an approach suggested.
