Description

Back to High Efficiency Superfinishing of Bearing Rings with CBN
Superfinishing is an abrasive process used to achieve micro-finished surfaces, extend product life mainly by increasing fatigue resistance, reduce the energy loss due to friction and provide the product with superior cosmetic appearance. This paper compares the basic performance of one of the most promising superabrasives, CBN, versus the most used conventional abrasives (aluminum oxide and silicon carbide) in superfinishing of the ball tracks of bearing rings. Authors: Ioan D. Marinescu (University of Toledo, Toledo, OH), Gabriel Dontu (University of Toledo, Toledo, OH), Eugen Bordeianu (Jacobs Chuck Manufacturing Company, Clemson, SC).
