Back to MACHINING OF METALS FOR ADVANCED AIRCRAFT AND MISSILES
This paper presents machining characteristics of several high temperature and high strength alloys and metals used in the aircraft industry. Tool life, cutting speeds and feeds, are considered. AISI 4340 steel, three thermal resistant alloys, stainless steel, titanium 6AL-4V and molybdenum are discussed. Cutting speeds with high speed steel and carbide tools are recommended. (Formerly 142)
