Description

Back to CHEMICAL EFFECTS IN MACHINING AND METALWORKING
A discussion of the surface chemistry of cutting lubricants with different metals. Organic and inorganic films are studied and discussed. Several metals were tested, but experiments with aluminum predominated. Emphasis is on the chemical in the fluid reacting with the clean metal to form a lubricating film. Test results apply to forming as well as machining.
