The Metal Removal Parameter, cubic inches of metal being removed per minute per pound of force, for AISI52100 and M50 is seen to be influenced by wheel composition and speed. Grinding horsepower is discussed and the unique relationship between specific horsepower and the Metal Removal Parameter is presented. This relationship is shown to be a valuable tool in evaluating possible beneficial grinding effects from wheel or coolant variations.
