Description

Back to SPARKOUT BEHAVIOR IN PRECISION GRINDING
The sparkout operation in precision grinding is usually employed to reduce grinding force and thereby to produce acceptable workpiece surface finish, profile, size and taper. The relationship between the metal removal rate and the wheel-work interface normal force is the prime factor during sparkout and will be explored in depth. Surface finishes resulting from sparkout grinds will also be discussed. The grinding behavior during roughing will point out what one may expect during the sparkout grind.
