Back to Some Fresh Approaches To Electro-Chemical Deburring

The use of electro-chemical techniques for deburring is discussed. The techniques are divided into two categories depending on types of electrolytes. ECD or electro-chemical-deburring usually utilizes saline solutions and is a special case of electro-chemical machining. EDPD or electro-chemical polishing-deburring utilizes acid electrolytes and is a special application of electropolishing. If in addition to deburring it is necessary to also treat the surface of the part for any of the listed reasons, then ECPD can result in a very economical process. New equipment developed by the Limat division of Plasma Technology, Ltd. of israel for ECPD is discussed. 8 refs.
