Investigation on Burr-Free Shearing in Japan

This paper describes briefly the developments of burr-free shearing of sheet metal conducted mainly in Japan. Included among them are reciprocating blanking, opposed die blanking in the field of blanking, as well as counter cutting and roll slitting in the field of slitting. The mechanism of burr formation and the fundamental principle for the prevention of shearing burr are also discussed. 5 refs
