Description
Back to Calculating Machining Power
Machining power calculations are useful in production planning, making specifications for new machine tools, and in making tooling layouts. How much power is required to remove material at a given rate? Will the machine have sufficient power to perform an operation as planned? What is the maximum cut that can be taken by a certain machine tool? These and similar questions can be answered by applying the relatively simple calculations described in this paper. Calculations are shown for customary inch units as well as for SI metric units. For SI units the new concept of unit power is introduced.
