Chatter patterns are classified into seven types by observing the ground workpiece and noting the chatter frequency. The nature of wheel regenerative, work regenerative chatter and mottle patterns are described. The grinding parameters governing chatter are discussed and their effect on chatter behavior is presented. Methods for reducing or eliminating chatter problems are discussed.
