Description
Back to Factors Affecting Traverse External Grinding
Traverse grinding on an external centertype grinder is a fast, efficient way of producing a continuous diameter having a length wider than the grinding wheel. It involves cutting with the edges of the wheel which causes them to wear differently than the center section of the wheel. Some of the geometrical factors influencing traverse grinding will be discussed as well as coolant and wheel grade effects. The data were developed on a typical centertype grinder and cover the commercial, production range used in industry. 3 ref.
