Description

Back to Quality Control in Resistance Welding

Monitors and compensators are available to assist production people as quality indicators, so that they know when their resistance welds are questionable. Proper application and maintenance of the monitor or compensating equipment as well as maintenance of the welding process equipment is essential to provide consistency in weld quality. Weld energy monitors look at secondary current and time, which relates to weld quality. Compensators provide a constant electrode voltage and current density or look at a weld resistance curve and change the weld time. Tests are now in process to use monitors on flash weld machines and resistance seam welders.
