Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems Planning Criteria

This paper discusses the planning process from the time a decision is made to explore possibilities of automated storage systems through the start-up of the system; guidelines and logic approach for establishing the design criteria for the system; significance of interface within various departments of the company; the economic justification process; significance and preparation of performance specifications; evaluation of bids and award of contract; and significant elements in the follow-up procedure.
