Description
Back to Geometrically Toleranced Position Data Analysis
Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing helps the designer to specify part requirements on the blueprint with respect to the actual function and relationship of part features. Typically, the function of a part feature is verified with a plug type gage resulting in go/no go data. Unfortunately, this type of data (attribute) does not help in determining process or machine capabilities. Capability analysis requires that dimensional data, including the relationship of part features be collected. But this type of data is more difficult to analyze since it involves two dimensions. In this paper, a technique to evaluate data collected on geometrically toleranced part features is described. Examples are given, showing how the interrelations can be graphically displayed and analyzed.
