Flexible Automation in Electronics Manufacturing and Test

Although dedicated automation has gained acceptance within the electronics manufacturing community, flexible automation has not. The reasons for this are inherent in the electronics manufacturing and test processes themselves. Some of the characteristics of these processes are presented as well as the economic and technological reasons for continuing to use manual labor rather than flexible automation in these processes.
