Handheld Data Acquisition System for Torque Auditing

Torque auditing during manufacturing and assembly requires instrumentation that is both practical and capable of providing valid data. This paper examines one such system. The system is handheld and can audit both static torque (fastener breakaway after installation) and dynamic torque (tool torque during installation). Two case studies illustrate how such a system integrates with automated fastening and fastening process control.
