Statistical Process Control in Coatings

The application of statistical techniques to coating technology needs special consideration. Normal procedures used in the manufacture of a product which undergoes identical repeatable operations cannot always be applied to coating. The variations in technique are pointed out and discussed. Basic statistical theory is reviewed, and its use in coating applications is illustrated. Control charts, both Shewhart and Cusum, are included in the applied technical discussions along with detailed interpretation of their signals. (technical report)
