Description

Back to Simulation of Autoclave Scheduling

Most aerospace firms use composite materials which require processing in autoclaves at high temperatures and pressures. Autoclave scheduling is a complicated task. The schedule must account for many factors: material properties, tool specifications, and autoclave characteristics. This autoclave scheduling model uses a tool stream coming from a clean room area which feeds the autoclave; queues up the tools and provides a schedule for loading the autoclave; and outputs the autoclave schedule. Specific results are reviewed of a capacity planning project involving up to 13 autoclaves. The presentation includes graphic animation of the ultimate system in operation, as well as critical information learned from the model.
