Description
Back to Improving Grinding Performance With Force-Adaptive Monitoring Of Wheel
Real time monitoring of the normal grinding force with date acquisition sensors provides the basis for measuring grinding wheel variability, changes in wheel sharpness, onset of wheel loading, fluctuations of workpiece metallurgy, and variation in the "threshold force." Quantitative monitoring of wheel sharpness permits better control of surface integrity. Normal force measurements allow the computer and software to compensate for deflection errors of the wheel spindle or workpiece. Fast production cycles absorb stock variations without producing size or taper errors. Short cycle times are obtained, saving time and money. Examples of parameter variations in grinding fuel-injection nozzles are given.
