Description
Back to Achieving World Class In Lightguide Cable Manufacturing Through
At the AT&T Atlanta works, integrated manufacturing of light guide cable is perceived as an effort to increase productivity while reducing the total manufacturing lead time from weeks to hours, by integrating the manufacturing process as a gigantic assembly line extending from fiber inventory to shipping. One process logically integrated by one information system that knows at any time the location and status of every cable in the process and also knows the desired future location and status of every cable as determined by one global scheduling system. This scheduler should control an automated material transportation system that would physically integrate the manufacturing process and imposes the required discipline.
