Description

Back to The Effects Of Organic Additives On Ceramic Body Processing
This paper investigates the properties provided by organic additives, such as cellulose ethers and dispersants, during green body forming. These investigations include the effects of binder chemistry and dispersant concentration on green body rheology and properties. The green body rheology as it relates to ceramic forming methods such as extrusion is discussed. Organics (binders, dispersants, and plasticizers) also provide specific properties in green ceramic tape. The effects of organic tape and concentration in tape casting are reviewed. Recipes for ceramic extrusion and tape casting using cellulose ethers in water systems are included in the discussion.
