Description
Back to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Fundamentals: Concepts and Rules
Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is an engineering language that uses symbols and modifiers to clearly communicate design requirements on mechanical drawings. By using GD&T, a print can explicitly call out necessary tolerances in an unambiguous fashion. Using shop floor footage and animations to illustrate examples, this program introduces the viewer to GD&T rules and concepts. The 14 symbols used in GD&T are highlighted with examples to define their use. These symbols are organized into five categories:
- Form symbols
- Profile symbols
- Orientation symbols
- Location symbols
- Runout symbols
This program is part of the Fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing package.
